Hawaii Trip - Saying Aloha to Kauai

Back in 2016 Jetstar had a buy one way get the return sale.  We usually like to go away for Phil's birthday, so I decided to book some tickets to Hawaii for the following June.

And then work happened.  I ended up having a work trip to Prague at the same time, and Phil was able to go with me on that trip and also explore Vienna for a few days while I was working.  It was a great opportunity to see another part of the world, and so I happily rescheduled Hawaii.  Well, because I couldn't move them out as much as I wanted I ended up rescheduling the trip 3 more times. We were finally going to go in June 2019, and then of course I had another work trip to Singapore.  Fifth time was a charm, and after what became the world's most expensive free Jetstar ticket we finally went in September last year.

After a day of travel we finally arrived in Kauai and headed to our rental in the hills of Wailua.  On the short drive we had to make a couple stops to check out Opaekaa Falls and the Wailua River.  These were a great way to jump right in to our tropical vacation.

After an afternoon nap we took a walk along the Mahaulepu Coastal Trail.  We had the trail to ourselves and enjoyed some stunning scenery as we tried to walk off the jet lag.  It turned out to be a good warm up for what came the following day!
